How to 'Shop, Ship and Save' in Puerto Rico

• Make your reservations at one of the following hotels. 

• The hotel will help you contact a taxi driver or shipping consultants prior to arrival to make arrangements and get an estimate of service fees. Some hotels may include these services in their special packages.

• Drivers will take you shopping, help recommend the best stores and provide the shipping barrels to pack your purchases. They can even provide airport transfers in some cases. If you purchase large items or goods packed on palettes, the drivers can help arrange for delivery to the ocean freight receiving dock. If you rent your own car for shopping, shipping consultants can deliver barrels to your hotel or meet you at a store to arrange delivery to the shipping company.

• Drivers and shipping consultants all charge a fee (in addition to shipping charges from the ocean freight company) based on your shopping needs. The drivers do not work on a commission basis - only by fees. Fees may vary based on the driver, type of van, services offered, your schedule, where you go for shopping and how many barrels you need to purchase.
  Make sure you agree on all charges in advance.

• Drivers and shipping consultants can help you estimate shipping cost.  Barrels are charged at a flat rate depending on your island (55 & 75 gallon sizes are available). Large boxes or palettes are normally charged based on size rather than weight.

• Drivers and shipping consultants can help with paperwork and packing. Once you finish shopping, your driver will take you to the shipping company office to fill out your paperwork, make sure that purchases are ready for shipping and check shipment schedules.

• Pay your driver or shipping consultant directly (based on your agreed fees) unless specified fees are part of the hotel package.

• When you arrive home - the shipping company will notify you when your packages arrive. You have to clear your packages through customs, pay duty charges (if applicable) and pay shipping charges (if not pre-paid in San Juan).
